10 Simple Health & Wellness Habits to Feel Your Best This November!

Published November 4th, 2026 by Camarata Chiropractic

NOVEMBER HEALTH & WELLNESS TIPS — SMALL DAILY HABITS, BIG HEALTH BENEFITS!

Camarata Chiropractic & Wellness | North Chili, NY

Your Health Doesn't Start and Stop at Our Office!

At Camarata Chiropractic & Wellness, we believe that what you do OUTSIDE our office is just as important as what we do INSIDE our office!

Your daily habits matter. Your movement matters. Your nutrition matters. Your sleep matters. And your MINDSET matters!

As we head into the busy holiday season, here are 10 simple health and wellness tips to help you and your family feel your best this November!

1. PRIORITIZE SLEEP — CONSISTENCY IS KEY!

Sleep is when your body performs some of its most important recovery, repair, and restoration processes.

Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night and try to maintain consistent bedtime and wake-up routines.

And YES — naps count toward your total sleep time! A short 20–30 minute nap can help improve alertness and energy, although naps shouldn't routinely replace adequate nighttime sleep.

PRO TIP: Your nervous system LOVES consistency. Try going to bed and waking up around the same time each day, even on weekends!

2. SLEEP POSITION MATTERS!

Are you a stomach sleeper?

You may want to reconsider!

Stomach sleeping often requires prolonged rotation of the neck and can place additional stress on the cervical and lumbar spine.

Side sleeping and back sleeping are generally more spine-friendly options, especially when supported with the right pillow and mattress.

  • Side sleepers: Try a pillow between your knees.

  • Back sleepers: Try a pillow underneath your knees.

  • Stomach sleepers: Gradually work toward a more comfortable side-sleeping position if you're experiencing neck or back discomfort.

Remember: The BEST sleep position is one that allows you to sleep comfortably with good spinal support!

3. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!

Your body needs adequate hydration for circulation, temperature regulation, digestion, muscle function, and overall cellular health.

Even mild dehydration can contribute to fatigue, headaches, and reduced physical performance.

PRO TIP: Start your morning with a big glass of water BEFORE your coffee!

Keep a water bottle nearby throughout the day and adjust your intake based on activity, sweat loss, and individual health needs.

4. TAKE A 10-MINUTE WALK AFTER MEALS!

This is one of our FAVORITE simple wellness habits!

Walking for just 10 minutes after eating can help:

  • Reduce post-meal blood sugar spikes

  • Support insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation

  • Promote healthy digestion and gut motility

  • Reduce prolonged sitting and increase daily movement

  • Support stress management and healthy cortisol regulation

You don't need to run a marathon. Just MOVE!

PRO TIP: After Thanksgiving dinner, instead of immediately heading to the couch, grab your family and go for a 10–15 minute walk!

5. MOVE YOUR FASCIA EVERY DAY!

Your fascia is the connective tissue network that surrounds and supports your muscles, joints, nerves, and other structures throughout your body.

Healthy movement helps maintain tissue mobility, flexibility, and physical function.

Try incorporating daily:

  • Gentle stretching and mobility flows

  • Thoracic spine rotations

  • Hip mobility exercises

  • Shoulder circles and controlled joint movements

  • Foam rolling or gentle myofascial release

PRO TIP: Just 5–10 minutes of intentional daily mobility work can help reduce stiffness, improve movement quality, and support long-term physical function.

MOTION IS LOTION!

6. SUPPORT YOUR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM — TRY THE BIG 6!

Your lymphatic system plays an important role in immune function, fluid balance, and transporting waste products from tissues.

Unlike your cardiovascular system, your lymphatic system doesn't have a heart-like central pump. It relies heavily on muscle movement, breathing, and other physiological mechanisms to circulate lymph.

One popular self-care routine is Dr. Perry Nickelston's "Big 6" lymphatic technique, which uses gentle stimulation of six areas of the body.

PRO TIP: Combine gentle movement, deep breathing, walking, and adequate hydration throughout your day!

7. STRENGTH TRAIN AT LEAST 3 DAYS PER WEEK!

MUSCLE IS AN INVESTMENT IN YOUR FUTURE HEALTH!

Strength training isn't just for bodybuilders or athletes.

When you place your muscles under appropriate tension and load, you stimulate adaptations that support:

  • Muscle strength and lean muscle mass

  • Bone density and skeletal health

  • Insulin sensitivity and metabolic health

  • Joint stability and injury resilience

  • Healthy aging and functional independence

  • Long-term mobility and quality of life

OUR CHALLENGE: Aim for 3 days of strength training each week!

START SLOW. BUILD CONSISTENCY. PROGRESS OVER TIME!

Remember, you don't need to lift the heaviest weights in the gym. You need to challenge your muscles safely and consistently.

8. BREATHE WITH INTENTION — REGULATE YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM!

Your breathing patterns influence your autonomic nervous system, heart rate, and stress response.

Try these two simple breathing techniques:

BOX BREATHING:

  • Inhale for 4 seconds

  • Hold for 4 seconds

  • Exhale for 4 seconds

  • Hold for 4 seconds

  • Repeat for 2–5 minutes

ALTERNATE NOSTRIL BREATHING:

  • Gently close one nostril and inhale through the other.

  • Switch nostrils and exhale.

  • Inhale through that same nostril.

  • Switch again and exhale.

  • Continue slowly and comfortably for a few minutes.

These practices may help promote relaxation, improve breathing awareness, and support stress management.

PRO TIP: Practice intentional breathing BEFORE reaching for your phone in the morning or when winding down at night. Never force breath holds or continue if you feel dizzy.

9. START AND END YOUR DAY WITH GRATITUDE, PRAYER & MEDITATION!

Your mindset matters!

And November is the PERFECT month to strengthen your ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!

Before you jump into emails, social media, work, or the demands of the day, take a few moments to be STILL.

Practice gratitude. Pray. Meditate. Reflect.

Ask yourself:

  • What and who am I thankful for today?

  • What is one thing I can do today to improve my health?

  • How can I positively impact someone else's life?

  • What went well today that I might otherwise overlook?

Gratitude and mindfulness practices can support emotional well-being and help manage everyday stress.

PRO TIP: Don't just practice gratitude on Thanksgiving. Make it part of your DAILY routine.

A healthier mindset can help support healthier choices!

10. FUEL YOUR BODY WITH REAL, WHOLE FOODS!

The holidays are here, and that means plenty of delicious food, desserts, snacks, and family gatherings!

And guess what?

IT'S OKAY TO ENJOY YOURSELF!

But remember, what you eat MOST of the time matters far more than what you eat at ONE holiday meal.

Focus on:

  • Colorful vegetables and fruits

  • Quality protein sources

  • Healthy fats

  • Fiber-rich whole-food carbohydrates

  • Plenty of water

Try to limit ultra-processed foods, excessive added sugars, and mindless snacking.

AND HERE'S THE BIGGEST TAKEAWAY…

If you overindulge at Thanksgiving dinner or find yourself eating too much sugar and snacking more than usual…

DON'T PANIC. DON'T PUNISH YOURSELF. JUST GET BACK TO YOUR HEALTHY HABITS!

The next day:

  • Return to your normal whole-food nutrition.

  • Get outside and WALK!

  • Hydrate appropriately.

  • Prioritize quality sleep.

  • Get back to your regular movement and exercise routine.

No crash diets. No extreme detoxes. No guilt.

CONSISTENCY OVER PERFECTION!
